The runners, like many local races, were a mixed bunch from elite runners to the first time racers. But as everyone lined up at the starting line, we all had a couple things in common; to start the New Year on a positive note and to have fun doing it!
On this day, my three friends and I ventured together about an hour to take part in the race. Each of us had our 2012 goals fresh in our minds.
- Don, a seasoned marathon runner, ran a personal best at the 10K. His goals include achieving personal best at various marathons this year, including the 2012 Boston Marathon.
- John, who has been running for the past two years, ran the 5K and has his goal set on running his first half-marathon this September.
- Chris, our newbie, ran and completed his first 5K race on this day. He achieved his goal of finishing without having to stop and walk. Way to go Chris! Hope you have more races in your future.
- I, have my eyes set on faster 5K and 10K times, while training and completing my first half-marathon in 2012.
As you can see, even though each of us had different goals, running allows us to take part in the same activities. Lining up side by side at the starting line, we were laughing with other runners, having a great time in the cold ready to run. Check out some of our pictures at the end of this blog.
